Jeffrey J. Schiano, Esq.
Jeff is a trial attorney with almost a decade of litigation experience. He attended Christian Brothers Academy in Syracuse, and went on to graduate, with honors, from Binghamton University. Following his undergraduate studies, Jeff attended Syracuse University College of Law, where he again graduated with honors, and was selected as a Criminal Justice Teaching Fellow.
After Law School, Jeff began his own practice where he worked mainly in the area of criminal defense and small business litigation. He was subsequently hired by the Onondaga County District Attorney’s Office as an Assistant District Attorney. Jeff began his career as an assistant district attorney in the City and Municipal Courts Bureau, where he handled a variety of matters in the City of Syracuse and surrounding local courts. Jeff was later promoted to the Violent Felonies Bureau, where he handled hundreds of burglary, robbery, and violent assault cases. After successfully prosecuting some of the most high profile cases in that unit, Jeff was again promoted, this time to the Special Victim’s Bureau, where he served as the deputy bureau chief for a number of years. While there, in addition to assisting in the overall management of the bureau, Jeff prosecuted some of the most violent and prolific sex offenders in New York State. In 2015, he became the only prosecutor in Onondaga County to successfully try a child pornography case. Before leaving the District Attorney’s Office, Jeff was appointed the deputy bureau chief of the Narcotics Division, where he prosecuted hundreds of felony drug and driving while intoxicated cases.
Currently, Jeff is a managing member of Frateschi, Schiano & Germano, PLLC, where he concentrates on criminal, civil, and business litigation.
Jeff also works for Syracuse University, where he coaches the undergraduate mock trial team.
Anthony Germano, Esq.
Mr. Germano began his legal career at the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office in Freehold, New Jersey. He first practiced in the Appellate Bureau of the Office, researching, drafting and arguing appeals, as well as assisting then Prosecutor John Kaye with special and complex assignments. While at the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office, Mr. Germano also gained considerable experience in court, as he prosecuted countless cases during his time there.
In 2005, Mr. Germano left the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office to return to Syracuse, and accept a position with Mackenzie Hughes, LLP, in their litigation department. While at Mackenzie Hughes, LLP, Mr. Germano represented individuals and entities in a variety of different types of cases, including but not limited to contract negotiation, construction litigation, property casualty, mass tort litigation and contract disputes and litigation. Mr. Germano also assisted in the firm’s representation of multiple municipalities and other government entities, which included land use zoning and planning, environmental regulations and concerns, collective bargaining, code drafting and enforcement, as well as defending the entities in actions actions against them for money damages.
Mr. Germano then accepted a position with Goldberg Segalla, LLP, continuing his representation of clients in land use, property casualty, construction and contractual litigation. Representing general contractors, subcontractors and owners in both State and Federal proceedings ensures Mr. Germano is capable to provide complete and thorough legal services to all of his clients.
Prior to starting his own law firm, Mr. Germano worked for both the Cortland County Department of Social Services, and most recently the Onondaga District Attorney’s Office, where he prosecuted and tried some of the highest profile, complex cases before Onondaga County Grand and Petit Juries.
Mr. Germano’s experience has allowed him to become familiar with and proficient at negotiating matters to ensure fair results for his clients. What sets him apart and provides his clients with added security is knowing that because of his considerable trial experience, should judicial intervention be necessary, there is nobody more capable.
Joseph V. Frateschi, Esq.
Joe is an associate at Frateschi, Schiano & Germano, PLLC. Joe advises municipal agencies and public benefit corporations on a wide range of issues under New York law. He served as special transaction counsel for industrial development agency financial assistance packages. Joe serves on the faculty of Syracuse University’s College of Visual and Performing Arts teaching Music Industry Law and Ethics. During law school, he served as an extern to the Hon. Glenn T. Suddaby of the United States District Court for the Northern District of New York and the Hon. Frank P. Geraci, Jr. of the United States District Court for the Western District of New York. Joe is also an accomplished jazz saxophonist having performed with Paquito D’Rivera, Delfeayo Marsalis, Chad Lefkowitz-Brown and Noah Kellman.
